The Partners
Geoff Atkinson
Graduated from Exeter University with a BA and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1972.
After training and qualifying with a big 4 firm in London, he spent a few years with a financial institution before joining the practice as a partner in 1981.
With a grounding in large firm audit practice and hands-on experience of financial services, Geoff has helped the firm grow from a local practice to the broadly based business it is today. Primarily responsible for audit, he deals with a wide range of SMEs and their owners on corporate and taxation matters.
"The speed of change in technology and working practices has been relentless over the years, but I hope we have been able to retain something of an old fashioned approach to client service and attention to individual needs".
When not in the office Geoff is usually to be found working in his garden, or on the rifle ranges in Bisley where he has been known to collect the odd trophy or two for target shooting.
Dawn O'Leary
Graduated from Dundee University with an MA (Hons) in Accountancy and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992. Trained with a medium sized independent firm in Dundee before moving south. Dawn has been with Davis Burton Sellek since and was admitted as a partner in 1998.
Dawn has developed a mixed and diverse client portfolio comprising of mainly small to medium companies in market areas including construction, recruitment, property and shipbroking. Her client base is local, national, and more increasingly international. Dawn works closely with her clients to help them grow as effectively and efficiently as possible... very much a "hands on" approach.
She is passionate about the role which small and medium sized businesses play in today's market and how the accountancy profession can best serve their needs. She is currently a member of the General Practitioners Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland representing members in England and Wales.
"At Davis Burton Sellek we know the importance of understanding our client's business. Not only do we ease the burden of compliance work but we also try to create real value for them. We listen to our clients and then provide them with exactly what they need."
In her spare hours Dawn devotes her time to her two sons and most weekends is usually found cheering on from the side of a football pitch. Trying to keep fit is her latest personal goal with rollerblading and swimming topping the list.
