Colin Willett celebrated half a century watching his favourite football team Aldershot play Southend United on Boxing Day. Brothers Ian and Nigel treated Colin to a corporate day out at Aldershot Football club.  Colin said "The highlight for me was receiving a signed shirt from the entire Aldershot football team. The lights going out half way through the game just means I get to see my team at the replay."

The Davis Burton Sellek team joined thousands of Sunningdale villagers at the Jubilee Clock Chobham Road Friday 2nd December to see Russ Abbot switch on the Xmas lights. Local businesses opened their doors for shopping and festive catering. Villagers tucked into mulled wine, BBQ food from Edwards & Elliott & Extreme Design, hot chocolate from Fegos and hot dogs from Lewis' the Butcher.

The Thames Club (Staines Town FC), Wheatsheaf Lane hosted a Halloween ball in support of the Refuge charity. Aound 252 guests including our very own Audit and Accounts Senior, Lindsay Gray, glammed it up in their ubiquitous masks (of course) to help raise funds for this worthwhile cause.

ICAS held their annual dinner at the Savoy Hotel on 3 Oct. Guests included Davis Burton Sellek and senior managers from a number of business sectors. Comedian and TV presenter, Dara O'Brian, gave a sterling performance as guest speaker. Interesting fact: did you know it is a Savoy tradition for Kaspar, the model cat, to sit at the dinner table when there are only 13 guests!

A great day was had by all at Royal Ascot last month. Taking time out from the busy tax season, DBS friends came together at this special event in the Ascot racing calendar for a flutter on the horses and some lunch. DBS brollies made a welcome appearance when the heavens opened!

Local band Goodnight Vienna is set to play UK leading festival, GuilFest this July. They join the likes of James Blunt, N-Dubz, Roger Daltrey and more - albeit on different stages! Dawn O’Leary, mother of one band member and Managing Partner - Davis Burton Sellek, says “It’s a real achievement to get this far. Lunch4Life host fund raising evening at Wentworth Golf Club 19 March 2011

La Soirée pour la Vie took place once again at Wentworth Golf Club to help raise money for various cancer charities. Committee member, Lorna Ponti, said “Last year La Soiree pour la Vie was born. Sunningdale Audit & Accounts Senior sings for a good cause

Accountant by day, Lindsay Gray, joined 150 local residents in Staines at a karaoke night and helped raise a staggering £1,200 for baby Jacob who is battling cancer after being diagnosed at 5 months old with a cancerous skull tumour. Jacob is now 14 months old and requires further treatment in Florida. The monies raised will go towards paying for accommodation and living expenses, whilst he undergoes the latest treatment in the USA. Lindsay said "It beats singing in the shower and I'm glad I could help Jacob in this small way."

Grant Rounding gets Hornets season off to a winning start 8 Sept

Accountant joins Race for Life and walks 5k in aid of Cancer Research  

Race for Life is the UK's largest women-only fund raising event. Accountant Leanda Long helped raise £100 when she walked 5k in aid of Cancer Research UK in Reading on Saturday 17th July. Leanda said "Having recently lost a dear friend to cancer, I wanted to give up my Saturday morning to remember her and support this charity. Grant Rounding swapped number crunching for ice hockey on Sunday 19 April. His team, the Bracknell Hornets swept to victory taking the title from the Wightlink Raiders. Record numbers attended the event at the John Nike Leisuresport Complex in Bracknell. Partner Dawn O'Leary joined fellow clients from Davis Burton Sellek to support the fourth annual Lunch4Life charity event, which helped to raise over £62,000. The funds will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Charity, the Wexham Park Hospital and the Ashford & St Peter's Breast Unit. Sunningdale Accountants & Financial Life Planners raise £1,617 for Sebastian's Action Trust

A drinks party was held to welcome the arrival of Financial Life Planners, Encompass, to the DBS offices at the Galleries in Charters Road. Clare Grosart, Taxation Senior, exhibits fine art at Reading University

Her final designs featured alongside 57 of her peers including finalists across all the various art programmes, clearly demonstrating the diversity of today's contemporary artistic talent.

Dawn O'Leary says "We are all extremely proud of Clare - her hard work and dedication has clearly paid off with some extraordinary and dynamic designs. Clients have been keen to speak to her to see if her skills transfer to creative tax planning!"

 

Lorna Ponti of Lunch4Life raises £10k for local hospital cancer unit

Lorna Ponti and her committee recently gave £10,000 to Ashford and St Peter's Hospital NHS Trust. This was raised during an event organised by cancer fund raising group - Lunch4Life www.lunch4life.co.uk  The money is being put into the breast fund and is helping to buy new equipment and go towards future research projects.

Every year we give a donation to the Sunningdale Christmas lights and join in with the festivities on the opening night. 2008's celebrations were better than ever with Russ Abbott switching on the lights and carol singing and dancing from local schools. Davis Burton Sellek joins forces with Dane & Glasscock Recruitment to support Camberley School Career’s Day

Davis Burton Sellek and Dane & Glasscock joined forces to support a local Career’s Day for SHAPE (Surrey Heath Education Partnership) held at Tomlinscote School in Camberley on 10 February. Students and parents received free advice on accountancy career opportunities as well as interview preparation, CV writing and presentation.  The day proved successful for parents, students and exhibitors alike.
