Our Team
Personal attention from friendly staff familiar with your affairs ensures you receive the very best service and advice at all times. The close-knit Davis Burton Sellek team provide proactive advice and practical assistance when you need it the most.
The initial free client meeting involves an in-depth discussion. This allows us to determine your real needs, how we can best service these needs now and in the future and to find out what makes you tick. We will introduce you at this stage to other professionals in the firm so that they also have first hand knowledge of what you hope to achieve.
From the outset you will know personally those who will be looking after your business and financial affairs. By becoming closely involved, we build on strengths and isolate weaknesses. Ongoing appraisals ensure that we offer advice and practical assistance when it's required.
Mark Busby
Head of Taxation
Professional tax planning for private clients & businesses in UK & international markets
In the spring of 1995 I came to the conclusion that no matter how hard I tried, my efforts were not going to change the way that the Inland Revenue worked and after five years it was time to part company.
Since then I have never looked back! As a gamekeeper turned poacher I have spent my time providing consultancy advice & creative tax solutions for individuals and businesses, negotiating deals and settlements with my old adversary and dealing with the ever-increasing level of Revenue investigations. Along the way I even found the time to qualify as a member of The Association of Taxation Technicians.
As Head of Tax for Davis Burton Sellek, I front a "Tax Boutique" providing bespoke services tailored around individual needs. The level of service provided comes from getting to know clients, their backgrounds, the issues that affect their lives and the aspirations that are important to them.
For me it is the uniqueness of these relationships that keeps me fresh and interested in my work, I feel privileged to act for all of my clients and when representing their interests I always play to win! In my spare time I enjoy playing the guitar and spending time with my family.

With the tax team's knowledge of HMRC, clients benefit from best advice, more timely repayments and prompt resolutions to problems based on our understanding of Revenue policy and procedures.
Outside of work, any spare time is spent studying for my design degree and painting which is my passion.
Colin Willett
Head of Audit and Business Services
For audit & assurance and accountancy services for owner managed businesses
It was always my ambition to have a career in either the accountancy or banking world. With this in mind, I headed to college to further my education and two years later left with a business studies diploma. It was shortly after leaving college in 1980 that I joined Davis Burton Sellek and soon after, became Treasurer of a local club.
As Head of Audit and Business Services, I am reponsible for providing mainly auditing and accountancy services for the majority of UK-based clients, ably assisted by my accounts team. Our business client base is a wide and varied one, ranging from Opticians to Hypnotherapists and Actors to Musicians.
Outside of the office, my spare time is usually taken up travelling the country supporting Aldershot FC. During the summer months my free time may be spent visiting air shows, being an aviation enthusiast.
Terry Friday
Audit & Accounts Manager
Audit & Accounts services for local, national & international Construction clients
Having graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Accounting and Finance in 2003 I decided to pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant and opted for the ACA qualification.
Having completed the long road to qualification, I joined DBS in 2009 as one of the firm's Audit and Accounts Managers. With my previous experience in advising owner managed businesses and being newly qualified, I was able to bring with me the most up to date technical knowledge and training together with buckets of enthusiasm. My primary focus is advising clients in the firm's increasing construction industry portfolio, getting involved at local, national and international levels.
In my spare time I am a devoted fan of most sports, in particular football & rugby where I follow Arsenal & London Wasps. Other interests include eating out, cooking & listening to R&B, Soul & Motown.
Sam Hillier
Client Services and Payroll
Payroll services for owner managed businesses who want to outsource
After leaving college in 1994, I worked on a number of high profile contracts including the Year 2K project. In May 2000 I decided to follow my passion for accounts and joined Davis Burton Sellek initially as Personal Assistant to the Partner.
As Payroll and Client Services manager, I am responsible for implementing the incredibly high service standards our clients have come to expect from Davis Burton Sellek as well as providing payroll services for 30 businesses. I also manage the ever-busy accounts office to ensure clients receive best advice and personal service at all times. To further my career I am studying for the Institute of Certified Book-keepers and book-keeping qualifications.
In my spare time I am an avid ten-pin bowler and play in the Cinderella Bowling League. I also enjoy revamping my garden on sunny days and spending time with my family.
Lindsay Gray
Audit and Accounts Senior
Audit & assurance, accounts, VAT returns and book-keeping for owner managed businesses
Having completed my A-levels at College I preferred to work towards experience rather than qualification with a debt. Shunning university, I joined Wokingham District Council and funded myself through evening classes in Pitmans accountancy exams. I have since qualified as a member of the Association of Accountant Technicians (AAT).
As Audit and Accounts Senior, I provide owner managed businesses with management accounts, VAT returns, revenue statistics, book-keeping and tax return services. Increasingly, I am helping international clients with their VAT returns and accountancy requirements.
In my spare time, aside from homework, I enjoy playing the keyboard along with many other forms of music, including attending West End shows. I am also part of the Audio Description Voluntary group at the Hexagon Theatre in Reading to help the visually impaired. I find this extremely rewarding, as the people you spend time with are incredibly appreciative of your time.

I joined Davis Burton Sellek in 1982 after moving from London to Berkshire to start a family. Over the years I have enjoyed contact with a number of DBS clients, many of whom have become friends.
With extensive company secretarial experience, I am able to provide clients with a comprehensive service including provision of registered offices, record maintenance and completion of annual returns. Advice on more complex issues such as the Companies Act, and specific forms and procedures are also within my remit.
When not working I enjoy theatre and the cinema. Having a very sporting family I follow both national and international tennis events and of course, being a born and bred Londoner I follow the Fulham football team.

Accountancy & Taxation
Audit & assurance, accountancy and taxation
Whilst at school I was always interested in mathematics so I chose to study both A-level accounting and AVCE business at a local college. Having completed my A-levels they confirmed my passion in accounts and I continued with academia by studying a degree in Business and Management (Accounting).
After graduating I joined Davis Burton Sellek in 2008 to develop my accountancy and taxation skills. The private practice attracted me due to the high emphasis on taxation and auditing, and a genuine interest in the client. I am quickly developing my knowledge and skills by working on a wide range of accountancy services. Once qualified, I look forward to having my own client portfolio.
Outside work my greatest interest is music, and you will often find me with my MP3 headphones in my ears, or going to see mainstream artists in concert.

Accountancy & Taxation
Audit & assurance, accountancy and taxation
During school I created an interest in Maths and Business, and proceeded to study these at college. On completion of my first year at college, I gained knowledge of the AAT qualification and found that I could gain valuable time and experience from my peers, so rather than completing my final year at college I studied my first year towards the AAT qualification.
I then joined DBS in 2009 to gain my first footsteps into becoming a qualified accountant. The firm attracted me due to its large customer diversity and having the opportunity to work with such a close-knit team.
Out of the office, I am a keen Ice Hockey player for the Bracknell Hornets and can be found speeding around ice rinks across the country.
